Mumbai, June 27, 2025 —
JSA Advocates & Solicitors and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) advised on the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) of Smaaash Entertainment Private Limited under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
JSA provided comprehensive legal support throughout the CIRP and represented Resolution Professional Brugesh Amin before the NCLT, Mumbai, securing approval for a resolution plan submitted by Nazara Technologies, which had earlier been approved by Smaaash’s committee of creditors. The firm also successfully handled ancillary proceedings, including challenges from the erstwhile promoter and attempts to transfer or misuse the Smaaash brand and trademarks.
The JSA team was led by Varghese Thomas and Tirthankar Datta (Partners), with support from Fatema Kachwalla, Kunal Kaul, Aditi Sehgal, Virgil Braganza, and Ciol Kumar.
CAM advised and represented Nazara Technologies on drafting, negotiating, and implementing the resolution plan, including appearances before the NCLT. The team was led by Madhav Kanoria and Surbhi Pareek (Partners), supported by Shivani Chaturvedi and Karthika Sanjay.
Smaaash operates 13 gaming and entertainment centres across India, offering immersive experiences including arcade games, go-karting, VR, and its flagship centre in Mumbai’s Kamla Mills.
