As the Founder of Wisely Legal, I make legal solutions accessible for corporates, businesses, and startups across India. I am dedicated to empowering clients with strategic, actionable legal guidance that fuels business success.
I completed my LL.B. as a gold medalist and did a Master’s in Corporate Law.
With experience of working on cases involving major industry players like Jio, Airtel, Paytm, Videocon, SEBI, Reliance, CleverTap, AIIMS-Raipur, JK Cement, Udaan, and Berger Paints, I navigate complex corporate and commercial law landscapes with expertise and precision.
1. As a Gold Medalist in LL.B. and a corporate law expert, what pivotal moment in your legal journey inspired you to establish your law firm?
Gazal: My journey into law was driven by a deep desire to create a tangible impact in the corporate world by providing businesses with comprehensive and customised, one stop legal solutions. Being awarded a Gold Medal in LL.B. reaffirmed my commitment to legal excellence, but the pivotal moment came when I realized that businesses—especially startups and growing enterprises—struggled with legal compliance, contracts, and risk management. Recognizing this gap, I founded Wisely Legal, a one-stop legal solution for businesses, ensuring they navigate legal complexities with confidence and compliance.
2. How do you manage the responsibilities of leading the Anti-Sexual Harassment Council as the State President of WICCI while overseeing a successful corporate legal practice?
Gazal: Balancing both roles requires strategic time management, a strong support system, and a passion for creating impact.
At Wisely Legal, I have built a capable team that ensures seamless client service while for WICCI along with 20 member Council of WICCI i dedicate focused time to my role as State President of the Madhya Pradesh Anti-Sexual Harassment Council (WICCI). Both roles align with my commitment to legal empowerment—whether it’s guiding businesses on corporate compliance or ensuring organizations implement robust PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policies. By drafting PoSH Policy, Constitution of Internal Committee (IC), fostering awareness, conducting training sessions, and actively working on policy development, I strive to create safer workplaces while maintaining a thriving corporate legal practice.
3. Your firm collaborates with professionals across disciplines, such as CAs and strategists. How does this interdisciplinary approach enhance your service offerings?
Gazal: Legal solutions are most effective when they are holistic. A business’s success is not just about legal compliance but also financial prudence, operational efficiency, and growth. By collaborating with CAs, CS, IPR Attorneys, other specialized lawyers, and industry experts, Wisely Legal ensures that our clients receive integrated solutions that go beyond traditional legal advisory of Corporate Lawyer and at one place. This interdisciplinary approach helps businesses with funding, tax planning, contract negotiations, risk mitigation, and overall corporate advisory, making legal support a business enabler rather than a compliance burden.
4. What unique challenges have you encountered while implementing POSH policies for organizations, and how do you ensure they align with workplace culture
Gazal: One of the most unique challenges I’ve encountered while implementing PoSH policies Aligning PoSH policies with the company’s values, so it becomes a part of the culture — not just a policy on paper.
For instance, in male-dominated industries or startups with a very casual work culture, there’s often hesitation in openly discussing topics related to sexual harassment. In such cases, the real challenge lies not in drafting the policy, but in sensitizing leadership and employees to see PoSH as a tool for empowerment, not enforcement.
To bridge this gap, I focus on:
-
Customized training sessions
-
Interactive workshops
-
Making the Internal Committee approachable
5. Startups often face financial constraints. What advice would you give to a startup founder when it comes to drafting their first set of legal documents and contracts?
Gazal: For startups, investing in strong legal foundations is non-negotiable. Rather than viewing legal services as an expense, they should see it as an investment that prevents future risks, liabilities, and disputes. My advice:
-
Prioritize essential contracts such as Founders’ Agreements, NDAs, Employment Contracts, and Vendor Agreements.
-
Understand investor relations—A well-drafted Shareholders’ Agreement can prevent future conflicts.
-
Use cost-effective legal solutions—We offer affordable Legal solutions without compromising quality.
Legal clarity from the start ensures a startup’s growth without roadblocks.
6. With increasing focus on data privacy, how do you help businesses navigate the complexities of new data protection laws and ensure compliance?
Gazal: Data protection laws, especially with the evolving Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) in India, require businesses to be proactive rather than reactive. At Wisely Legal, we help businesses by:
-
Drafting customised privacy policies and data protection agreements that align with global and domestic regulations.
-
Conducting data audits to mitigate risks of breaches and penalties.
-
Training teams on cybersecurity best practices.
Data privacy is no longer optional—it’s a key element of corporate governance and trust-building.
7. Having worked with numerous renowned lawyers and law firms, what’s the most valuable piece of advice you’ve received, and how do you apply it in your own practice?
Gazal: One of the most valuable pieces of advice I received from a senior corporate counsel was this: ‘Always think like a business Legal partner, not just a legal advisor.’ As a corporate lawyer, this shifted my perspective entirely. It reminded me that while legal compliance is critical, understanding the client’s commercial objectives is equally important.
At our law firm, we strive to provide solutions that are not just legally sound but also practically aligned with the client’s goals. Whether it’s structuring investment deals, drafting commercial contracts, or advising on risk mitigation—our aim is to support growth, not just prevent disputes.
This mindset has helped us build stronger, more trusted relationships with clients across industries. Wisely Legal aims to help businesses avoid disputes or Opt for Out of court settlement rather than fight them in court, trust me.
8. What strategies do you use to maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Gazal: Balancing a demanding career with personal life requires discipline, prioritization, and delegation. Some strategies I follow:
-
Setting clear boundaries between work and personal time.
-
Delegating tasks and empowering my team at Wisely Legal.
-
Taking time for self-care—whether it’s yoga, reading, or family time.
-
Being passionate about my work—when you love what you do, it feels less like work and more like purpose.
-
Taking family trips once a year- if not international atleast national.
9. With a focus on diverse industry domains and a wide network of associates, where do you envision your law firm in the next five years, and how do you plan to expand your impact?
Gazal: Wisely Legal is not just a law firm; it’s a legal partner for businesses. In the next five years, I envision:
-
Strengthening our international collaborations to serve more global clients.
-
To offer customized Legal compliance solutions for startups and MSMEs.
-
Growing our PoSH and workplace compliance practice to create safer workspaces across industries.
The goal is to bridge legal expertise with business success and create a law firm that grows with its clients.
10. What key skills do you believe are essential for young corporate lawyers to develop, and how can they effectively gain this expertise early in their careers?
Gazal: The corporate legal landscape is dynamic, and young lawyers must focus on:
-
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
-
Understanding business and financial fundamentals.
-
Learning how to advise clients proactively, not just reactively.
-
Developing an entrepreneurial mindset— Corporate law is not just about cases, but about solving business challenges.
-
Staying updated with evolving laws.
