Harsh Gupta is a 2020 law graduate from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. To specialise in commercial and company law(s), he completed his post graduation in CS from Institute of Company Secretary of India in November 2021 and is also a licentiate member of ICSI. Being inclined towards litigation, Harsh enrolled himself with the bar and joined Pransh Law Offices, Raipur in February 2022 and has been working with the firm since then. 1. What inspired you to pursue a career in law, and what has been your journey so far?
Harsh: “The law has always captivated me as a framework that structures and guides human relationships. The opportunity to delve into complex legal issues, construct compelling arguments, and ultimately, secure justice for my clients is incredibly fulfilling. The journey to becoming an advocate is undoubtedly challenging, requiring years of dedicated study and rigorous preparation. However, the privilege of standing up for the rights of others and contributing to the legal system is a constant source of inspiration.
Glimpse into my journey – Within one year of completion of my graduation in BA.LLB (Hons.), I became a Licentiate Company Secretary. Thereafter, I joined Pransh Law Offices at Raipur where I continue to practice.” As I honed my skills and experience in commercial litigation and arbitration at Pransh Law Offices, I was fortunate to be entrusted with leading the Bhilai office. 2. You specialize in Arbitration, Commercial Laws, MSME, and Consumer Laws. How do you define your expertise in these areas?
Harsh: “My expertise in these areas is rooted in a deep understanding of the complex interplay between legal principles and business realities. In Arbitration, I focus on crafting effective dispute resolution strategies, representing clients diligently in arbitral proceedings, and ensuring the enforcement of favorable awards. 3. How many years have you been practicing law for, and what have been some of your key experiences?
Harsh: In the past three years, I’ve established myself as a practicing advocate with a strong focus on commercial litigation and arbitration. These areas perfectly align with my interest in complex legal matters and high-stakes client representation. Each case presents a unique opportunity to leverage my skills and achieve successful outcomes.
One key experience was successfully representing a client in a complex Arbitration dispute. Through meticulous research, I uncovered a crucial clause that ultimately strengthened our case and led to a favorable settlement for the client. Effectively presenting clients’ arguments and finding common ground with the opposing party not only sharpened my negotiation skills as a lawyer but also put me in the leadership seat to impact the destiny of my client’s case.
4. What is your typical approach to preparing for a litigation case?
Harsh: I begin by establishing a deep understanding of the case through meticulous fact-gathering and legal research. This comprehensive foundation enables me to develop a robust case strategy tailored to my client’s specific goals. I meticulously analyze evidence, prepare witnesses, and anticipate potential counterarguments. Throughout the process, I maintain open communication with my client, ensuring their active involvement in decision-making. By combining strategic thinking with a thorough knowledge of the law, I strive to build a strong case that effectively advocates for my client’s interests.

- Accessibility and Responsiveness: I prioritize client accessibility and aim to promptly respond to inquiries. Even if I can’t provide a detailed answer immediately, I acknowledge their message and give a timeframe for a more comprehensive response. This demonstrates my commitment to being available and responsive to their concerns.
- Proactive Communication: I don’t wait for questions – I anticipate concerns and proactively address them in updates or discussions. This minimizes confusion and anxiety for the client.

Harsh: Staying abreast of the latest developments in commercial litigation and arbitration is crucial for providing clients with the best possible representation. Here are some key strategies I use:
