Souvik Roy and Kanishka Bajpai, former partners at IC Universal Legal and JSA respectively, are set to launch Mumbai-based corporate law firm Mantrika Legal on 14 January 2026.
Positioned as a new-age advisory platform, the firm aims to blend deep legal expertise with commercially focused execution. Roy said the firm was founded to address the evolving needs of India’s corporate ecosystem by offering clear, strategic and business-oriented legal solutions.
Bajpai added that Mantrika Legal represents a natural progression after more than a decade of advising clients across transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate matters, with a focus on hands-on partner involvement and bespoke advice.
The firm will advise on venture capital, private equity, M&A, general corporate, financial services and data privacy matters, with each engagement led directly by the founding partners.
Roy brings over 14 years of experience in transactions, financial services and corporate advisory, having served as partner at IC Universal Legal between 2018 and 2024. Bajpai has over 10 years of experience across M&A and corporate transactions, most recently as partner at JSA, and previously with IC Universal Legal.
Mantrika Legal is currently in the process of expanding its team and recruiting junior-level professionals.
